Lincoln is a cathedral city with plenty of historical sites for the visitor to explore.  Lincoln Castle is one of the finest remaining Norman castles in the country, and the stunning architecture of Lincoln Cathedral is just adjacent.  Also in this area is the Medieval Bishops’ Palace, once one of the most important buildings in the country.

The Brayford Waterfront development is an inland marina and a great area for restaurants, cafes and independent boutique shops.  You can also take a boat trip from here or catch a film at the 9 screen cinema.  This is where Lincoln’s students and young people tend to hang out, as well as in the High Street Quarter, where more bars and clubs can be found as well as the main fashion retailers.  The Students’ Union is a converted railway building, The Engine Shed, now a cutting edge structure of glass and steel and the region’s largest music venue.  Lincoln Comedy Festival takes place annually in October and brings in some of the funniest names on the circuit.

For a bit of culture, see the collection of fine and decorative arts at the Usher Gallery and you can learn more about the social history of the area at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, housed in an old army barracks.
