Situated midway between Antalya and Side, Belek makes for a quaint holiday destination that can be enjoyed by the young and old alike. The resort fuses the ancient and the modern, giving it a unique atmosphere and appearance. Historical sites, sun kissed beaches, and world-class golf courses together with a perfect climate ensure that the town has something for everybody.

How to get to Belek

The closest international airport to Belek is Antalya airport, which is around 25km away, and connects to a vast amount of destinations across Europe.

There are no shuttle buses direct from the airport to Belek. Instead you should take a taxi into Antalya city centre and then catch a bus from the central bus station straight to Belek, with a journey time of around 25 minutes.

When to visit Belek

Belek enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate with sunshine virtually ever-present throughout the year. Winters remain mild, though rain is a fairly regular occurrence, and warmer clothing may be required in the evenings.

Things to do in Belek

Belek is the ideal holiday resort for golfers – boasting eight championship courses – and those seeking lazy days on a beach or by a swimming pool. However, for those looking for a more adventorous trip, the resort is also close to a number of interesting sites and there are several exciting activities on offer for those with a need to get physical.

The ruins of the Roman town of Perge makes for a fascinating excursion, as does the well-preserved ancient amphitheatre at Aspendos, which plays hosts to occasional concerts. 

From Belek, jeep safaris into the mountains are another popular outing, while trips to the nearby Manavgat waterfalls and the thermal baths at Pamukkale are also worthwhile, as well as to the Koprulu Canyon National Park, which houses an array of animals including deer, mountain goats, bears and wolves.

Activities including scuba diving, white-water rafting and horse riding are all available within reach of Belek and can be booked from tourist centres within the resort.

Those who can’t resist the lure of the beach will enjoy the neighbouring beach resort of Side, which is also worth an afternoon’s stroll for its 2nd century theatre and Roman Baths. Further afield, Antalya has a beautiful, well-preserved old town, and can be reached by local bus.

For retail opportunities, there are several markets, a small shopping centre, souvenir shops and traditional boutiques in Belek, but for even more choice you may want to head to Alanya or Antalya. The nearby village of Kadriye also has plenty to offer in the way of street markets.

There is a limited choice of restaurants in Belek with most visitors dining in their hotels, but a couple of notable exceptions are Adana Ockbkbasi which serves up special Turkish fish and kebab dishes, and Coco Bar which specialises in lamb shish kebabs and also features an open-air terrace. Again, for more choice, head to Antalya or nearby Kadriye.

Evening entertainment is centered around the numerous bars in the resort, as well as musical shows and themed nights hosted at the larger hotels.
