This is a listed building dating back to 1854. It was in fact originally the local high school. The building has been meticulously refurbished but still retains many of the original features of the property. A stunning and fascinating building.
The rooms (all with private bathroom) are large and very nicely decorated. The curtains and bedcovers are in nice warm, autumnal shades with contrasting tartan covered chairs. They appear to be in very good condition.
The hotel has two restaurants, the more formal Scholars restaurant which is an elegant,wood panelled room or Rizzios Italian restaurant which has a more informal atmosphere.
The Highland hotel is situated in the heart of the ancient capital of Scotland, only 500 yards from the famous castle. This is an excellent central location.
The hotel has a very well equipped sport and leisure club. This is one of the very best hotels in the region and comes well recommended. (BL 09/2004)
