The property is a detached house built in the 1920's and has off street parking to the rear of the property. There is also a garden for guests to relax in. The house has a varied history as it once used as a bank and also as the residence of Captain Dobson a famous sea captain who saw service in both world wars and was torpedoed twice. It was bought by the present owners, the Blair family in 1949 and is now operated as a bed and breakfast by ourselves. Evening meals are available and can be included or added later should you wish. We can cater for most types of diet so please ask.We hope you will arrive as strangers but leave as our friends Rhone Villa is ideally situated for all wedding venues as well as very convenient for either tourists or business travelers passing through. We are directly across the road from Gretna Hall Hotel Blacksmiths Shop and marriage room, and three minutes walk from the World Famous Old Blacksmiths Shop and its own shopping complex which consists of a food hall, Tartan and Tweed shop, Border Fine Arts, glass shop and Pringle Knitwear. Less than five minutes from Gretna Green Railway Station, collection for any infirm guests can be made by prior arrangement. It is an ideal base for touring the surrounding area of the Borders, Galloway, Northumberland and the beautiful Lake District. Ideally situated for accessing Glasgow, Edinburgh, Carlisle or Newcastle we have plenty to offer in both leisure and History with Hadrians wall on our doorstep and the devils porrige' exhibition in Eastriggs the commonwealth village'. Gretna retail outlet with 50 shops is an ideal retail therapy visit and boasts over fifty shops.We have been awarded a Tourism Scotland 3 star grading. All our rooms are comfortably furnished and include hot drink making facilities as well as digital colour free-view TV, which includes digital radio, free Wi-Fi, en-suite facilities with water and fresh fruit.
