The attractive rooms and suites offer sophistication as well as an informal atmosphere with a sensational bathroom with a shower/toilet and rustic earth coloured tones, such as terracotta floors, therefore blending into the landscape. Further fittings includes a hairdryer, a direct dial telephone, satellite/cable TV, a radio, Internet access, a minibar, heating, air conditioning, a hire safe and a balcony or terrace.

The hotel offers an excellent choice of opportunities for evening meals, from dinner by candle light to informal al fresco dining. Guests are also able to choose between the elegant club house, a restaurant with show cooking, a special Mediterranean restaurant, a lobby bar, a fun pub, a pool bar and a grill. Guests may serve themselves at the breakfast buffet. It is also possible to book a half-board or full board stay.

This luxurious golf and spa resort is located about 10 miles from the bustling city of Murcia. It is part of the Polaris World franchise that has been making its way across Spain in the past five years, turning prime real estate land into profitable hotel resorts and apartment blocks, all under the banner of the Polaris empire.

The InterContinental contains all the features you would expect of a 5-star resort, and is certainly befitting of its luxury label. It caters primarily for couples, with the premise being that while the husband is busy on the adjoining world-class golf course, the wife can while away her time in the spa.

For those looking for a slightly more adventurous holiday, this resort may not be for you. But if it's pampering and relaxation you're after, not to mention top class food (available in three on-site restaurants) then you won't be disappointed.

The rooms are superb, complete with huge plasma screen tvs from which the Internet can be accessed, and a bathroom containing a hydrotheraputic bath - which is what top class sportsmen use to recover from their aches and pains.

The service is impeccable, verging on deferential. Engaging with the bell-boys is impossible since they are trained to answer everything with slavish 'yes sir, no sir' responses, when in fact this does nothing to heighten the sense of luxury and good treatment. Instead, staff should be allowed to use their discretion when it comes to talking openly with guests.

All in all, this is a fabulous hotel, but be prepared to pay for the fabulousness.
