A stunning Georgian Mansion standing in four acres of fabulous wooded gardens, only a short distance from the River Tyne and the Hadrians Wall Walk. Hedgefield House is the perfect stop-over for walkers, ramblers and cyclists following the Hadrians Wall route. The house is situated on the edge of the Northumberland countryside, one and a half miles from the A1M, two miles from the Gateshead Metro Centre and four miles from Newcastle upon Tyne city centre with its beautiful architecture, groundbreaking theatre and musical entertainment. Hedgefield house dates back to 1804 ,with documented evidence that it was the first home in Britain to have a telephone installed. In 1877, the inventor of the telephone, Alexander Graham Bell, made the first experimental phone call from the drawing room to the local coal mine.
