Standing in the shadow of York Minster is the ancient Guy Fawkes Inn. The notorious plotter intent on blowing up the Houses of Parliament on November 5th 1605 was born here, and today the Inn that bears his name is the finest in the city and one of the best preserved in the country.With gas lighting, timber floors, roaring log fires, huge settles, traditional ales served from barrels behind the bar, this atmospheric and mysterious Inn is a treasure to behold.
