Not to be missed is a visit to Montreux and the Chillon Castle via the Lavaux vineyards (a UNESCO world heritage site) with breathtaking views over the lake to the French Alps. A visit to Gruyre, a small medieval town, and its cheese factories offer a touch of Swiss culinary history especially known for its fondue.
