The property is built on foundations dating back to the Moorish occupation of the island. At the same time, the Moors constructed the irrigation water channels which can still be glimpsed today. The Arab word for stream or spring, Arratxa, was then converted to Es Ratxo when the island passed into Christian hands. During the 15th and 16th centuries the surroundings became an important agricultural area, producing sheep, cattle and olive oil. It was housing olive oil presses that the hotel’s buildings were originally built.

Take the motorway PM19 to Palma and after 5 km change to motorway PM20 to Andratx. Take exit 7A marked with the sign Puigpunyent and go right until the roundabout with a Cepsa petrol station. Cross the roundabout following the sign Puigpunyent. Stay on this road until you reach Puigpunyent and at the stop sign turn left (to Galilea), passed the church turn right and follow the signs to the hotel.
