This 4-star traditional hotel is ideally located in the centre of London in Kensington, opposite Kensington Palace and Gardens. The hotel offers elegant and comfortable accommodation with modern amenities for a pleasant stay in the capital. ***LOCATION*** The hotel is situated in the upmarket Kensington area overlooking Kensington Gardens, a few steps from the Royal Albert Hall and Hyde Park and withing walking distance from the museum triangle (Natural History, Science and Victoria & Albert Museums), the famous shopping areas such as High Street Kensington, Harrods and designer shops of Knightsbridge or the Portobello market in the nearby trendy Notting Hill area. The closest tube station is High Street Kensington (10 mins) which is served by the Circle and District lines that go directly to most of London's tourist attractions such as Buckingham Palace, the Big Ben or Tower of London (all within 10-20min journey). Victoria Station for trains to Gatwick is 4 stops away and Paddington station for trains to Heathrow only 3 stops away. ***EXTERIOR*** The property is a 5-storey traditional Victorian town house building. ***ROOMS*** The rooms are reported to vary in size from medium to large due to the historical nature of the building. Rooms have traditional decor with autumn tones of burnt orange, browns and creams and warm coloured wooden furniture. Deluxe rooms feature air-conditioning and are reported to be clean, well maintained and in good condition, as are the en-suite bathrooms. 70 rooms are available for smoking. ***RESTAURANTS & BARS*** At the "Fox and Henderson" restaurant, guests can enjoy traditional English cuisine with a modern twist, or enjoy a drink in the "Tavern Bar". Full English breakfast is served 7.00 - 10.30am Monday to Friday and 7.30 - 11.00am on weekends.

The hotel is located opposite Kensington Gardens, and just five minutes from High Street Kensington underground station. Its prime location also makes shopping and sightseeing easily accessible. The Royal Albert Hall and the Museums are located within ten minutes walk.

The hotel is made up of many houses joined together and as a result the rooms generally differ in size. Some of the rooms have extremely high ceilings, giving a feeling of space. The rooms are in fair condition, clean, well kept, and have the usual amenities such as satellite television and tea and coffee.

It is situated on the ground floor and subtly decorated.

The medium-sized lobby is comfortably furnished and is decorated in soft pastel colours with furnishings in wood creating a relaxed feel.

The hotel has a traditional exterior which recently underwent a facelift and has been restored to its original bright, smart condition.

Although the bedrooms would benefit from some refurbishment, this hotel is well placed for visiting many of London's attractions and offers good value for money. (12/06 RP)
