LE MURA AURELIE (Aurelian Walls)Built by Emperor Aureliano in 270 AD. as town protection against invaders.The lower part of the wall (where the BandB is) was fortified by Pope Pius V in 1500. You can spot the Pope?s emblem on the bricks.The rest of the wall was strengthened in mid XVII century by Pope Urbanus VIII to protect the Gianicolo hill.WALKSOur position will allow you to walk to all important places in central Rome. Just in front of our doorway there is S. Peter?s Colonnade. Crossing the square, you can reach the Vatican Museums and Castel S. Angelo in few minutes.We suggest you also to climb the Via Mura Aurelie to Porta San Pancrazio on the Gianicolo Hill. You will get to the so called Rome Terrace, where you can have a magnificent view of the Eternal City. A good start for your visit, and a nice place to come back at the end of your stay.
