The Hotel Gabrielli Sandwirth, a XIV century palazzo, one of the most exclusive hotels in Venice, is run by the Perkhofer family who can boast of 150 years in the hotelkeeping trade. The hotel is situated along Riva degli Schiavoni, the main promenade that runs alongside San Marco Basin and takes to San Marco Square through a spectacular 10 minutes’ walk.

The rooms vary in size and are decorated in traditional style with original furniture from the fifties and beautiful fabrics. They are equipped with all the modern facilities and are kept in good condition along with the bathrooms that have been recently renovated. Some rooms boast unforgettable views of the lagoon and the San Marco Basin.

There is an indoor restaurant, decorated in original liberty style from the 20s, and another restaurant located in a typical inner courtyard decorated with plants and colourful flowers to create a quite romantic atmosphere. They offer local and international delicacies.

The lobby, reception, and public areas are open plan, with marbled floors and walls, the ceiling is comprised of intricate work, in bare wood. The furniture is original from the 50s and kept in excellent condition thanks to the constant and loving care of the family that owns the hotel. The wooden reception desk is at the entrance of the hotel. At the left side there is a marble stairway and a marble column. There is also a spacious and luminous reading room, with original liberty furniture dated back to the 20s.

The hotel is a beautiful patrician palace of the 14th century spread out on 4 floors with a panoramic terrace on the top floor, where a solarium, surrounded by plants and flowers, is ideally located. The palace is painted in a typical orange shade, with beautiful white, pointed windows frames in gothic style.

This is a very well known, professional environment, in a spectacular location. There is also an English-style garden. The hotel is highly recommended. LB 08/07

The Gabrielli Sandwirth Hotel is situated along the main promenade of the Bacino Di San Marco, which is at the top of the Grand Canal. From the front of the hotel one can see the Island of San Giorgio and onward to the Island of Lido. The Gabrielli Sandwirth Hotel provides 105 inviting rooms, where some rooms come with a magnificent view of the Bacino di San Marco. HOW TO GET THERE From the Santa Lucia train station and from Piazzale Roma: By private water taxi to the hotel (Rio Ca di Dio). We recommend you settle the price before embarking and check that the taxi is authorized (you can tell by the yellow stripe and license number painted on the sides of the boat). By VAPORETTO (public transportation system) line 1 (45 minute trip) recommended if you want to enjoy the beauty of the Grand Canal. For a faster route take line 41 going toward Giudecca (30 minute trip). For both routes, the stop is Arsenale which is located no more than 150 meters from the hotel. From the Arsenale landing continue to the left, crossing the Ponte Ca di Dio. From the Tronchetto (Car Terminal):By VAPORETTO (public transportation system) line 82 (toward Giudecca) to the San Zaccaria stop (40 minute trip). Continue to the right across two bridges, the Hotel is about 200 meters to the left. From Marco Polo Airport By private water taxi to the hotel (Rio Ca di Dio). We recommend you settle the price before embarking and check that the taxi is authorized (you can tell by the yellow stripe and license number painted on the sides of the boat). By shuttle bus ATVO or ACTV to Piazzale Roma and then by Vaporetto line 1 or line 41 as described above. By water shuttle ALILAGUNA which departs from the Airport pier and reaches Arsenale in about 60 minutes. The stop is about 150 meters from the Hotel. From the Arsenale landing continue to the left, crossing the Ponte su Rio Ca di Dio.
