The hotel was built over 2 time periods. The 1st part of the residence was built from an old tower dating back to 1400, the 2nd from a prestigious palace built in 1700. When Florence was the capital of Italy, at the end of 1800, the whole hotel was renovated by the famous architect Giuseppe Poggi, designer of Piazzale Michelangelo. In the past, the building has been home to various embassies and the residence of a number of famous Florentine families, including the Arcangeli of Strozzavolpe. Later transformed into a hotel, the building still maintains the style and atmosphere of an old noble Florentine home.

This is a very nice hotel situated in a peaceful area away from the hustle and bustle of the busier roads. The hotel also offers a unique garden area where guests may relax after a long day's sightseeing. MS 03/07

The hotel is situated on a quiet residential street, with all major places of interest only a short walk away.

The rooms are medium in size, furnished in a simple, traditional style, with a cream colour scheme. The style is simple but gives a very cosy atmosphere. The headboards are very unique, and the rooms have wooden furniture.

The hotel does not have a restaurant, but the breakfast room is situated on the ground floor. Decorated like a typical Florentine living room, the room has a very cosy feel to it. Breakfast itself is a simple, traditional Florentine affair.

The medium-sized lobby is tastefully furnished in an elegant and traditional Florentine style. There is a pleasant sitting area in front of the warm fireplace.

This is a well-kept, traditional building with a neat and tidy facade in a pleasant creamy beige colour.
