the Colon Hotel, built on 1951, offers to its guests an excellent situation that allows to a great number of its rooms to enjoy a complete view of the Barcelonas Gothic Cathedral.

The hotel is located opposite La Catedral, dating back to the 13th century, in a pedestrian gateway to the Gothic Quarter and within walking distance of the famous Ramblas, main shopping areas such as El Corte Inglés and Plaza Catalunya.

The rooms are spacious and very well decorated with traditional furnishings, and are all fully equipped. Some of them have wonderful views over the Square and the Cathedral. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, safety deposit box, plasma screen, DVD player and CD player.

The restaurant is located on the ground floor offering an à la carte menu of international/traditional cuisine and a fine selection of local wines and spirits. The hotel also has a terrace serving light meals overlooking the main landmarks.

The lobby is medium-sized and elegantly decorated with traditional furnishings in soft pale salmon pink colours. 17th century masterpieces are displayed around the public areas. The attractive patterned marble floors add to the elegant atmosphere of this hotel.

The outer façade of this building is made of traditional sandstone, in an early 1900’s design, which blends in well with local art nouveau style architecture.

Gothic area: The hotel is situated right across the Cathedral, in the heart of the Gothic quarter, the most traditional neighbourhood in Barcelona. The best shopping and sightseeing areas are all within walking distance from the Hotel.

The hotel building was built in 1951 and renovated in 2003. It consists of 6 floors and 145 rooms, of which 30 are singles, 110 are doubles and 5 are suites. The attractive hotel has a lobby, a 24-hour reception, lifts, a safe, a currency exchange desk, a TV room, a bar, a conference room and a garage opposite the hotel which guests may use on payment of an additional fee. The breakfast room is in the basement and the a la carte restaurant is fitted with air conditioning. Internet access and room and laundry services are available.
