Get right into the atmosphere of the history of the town at the George Hotel of Stamford (****), a coaching inn where weary travellers would have rested in days of old. The Crown Hotel (**) is also in the centre of town, and also offers quieter rooms in a Georgian town house and stone cottage up the road. In an elevated position 5 minutes walk from the middle of town sits the Rock Lodge Town House, which has an oak panelled drawing room and walled gardens. Further out of town, between Stamford and Peterborough, is the White Hart Inn (***), which prides itself on its beer and has 3 of its own.
