Where to stay
Manchester is big into business and the Central Business District on Mosley Street, Deansgate, Kign Street, and Piccadilly are the best locations to be.
Heaton Park offers a quiet place to stay. Guests are still in city limits, yet can enjoy the fruits of nature in the park.
A stay by the Manchester Evening News Arena (which is surprisingly busier than NYC’s Madison Square Garden) promises an excellent musical event or two.
Citywide Manchester has about 500 licensed pub and brewing facilities, making the town center full of nightlife. Castlefield and Gay Village are also lively places around the Bridgewater Canal. There is also a strong gay following known for its liveliness, fun, and flamboyancy. The Northern Quarter is also a great place to check out local bands and a variety of live music from Jazz to Rock to Hip Hop.
High Street is full of shopping. It is the best place to stay and offers a wide variety of stores from haute couture, to labels, to bargains, to vintage and back again. There are also many antique shops located here too. Deansgate is also an excellent place to shop, eat, and hang out and is a favorite of celebrities and local footballers.
The universities are located on Oxford Road and form the educational hub of the city. Around here there are many budget places to stay and excellent restaurants and bars that are affordable to students.
The city center has a wealth of culture and architecture. It is the perfect place to stay to take it all in – arts, nightlife, music, culture, and business.
