Shopping abounds in the Victoria Quarter, where several long arcades are connected under one roof that covers the entirety of Queen Victoria Street. There is also the Corn Exchange by the colleges, Granary Wharf shopping by the water, and possible proposals for new shopping at the Eastgate and Trinity Quarters.
Leeds has an active nightlife. Quite obviously around the colleges there are a vast number of pubs, bars, nightclubs, and restaurants all catering to student life. Queen’s Court has great gay night spots and a lively beer garden. Millennium Square and the Civic Quarter are growing in numbers as both a student and weekend visitor fun time destination. There are many bars, upscale restaurants, art installments, a canal and greenery, a large projection screen and many events that take place here. Near Briggate and North Street there are also a dozen or so bars that are more local, less commercialized, and aimed at a bohemian crowd.
For family, luxury, or weekend warriors there are plenty of places to stay around Millenium Square that cater to a variety of budgets.
Peace and quiet can be found just beyond the city borders at the many bed & breakfasts available in the countryside.
