Gothenburg’s city centre boasts an excellent selection of accommodation options. The areas of Korsvägen and Svenska Mässan are particularly well served by hotels, as they host a large number of fairs and exhibitions throughout the year.
An excellent 4-star hotel around here is the impressive Gothia Towers, whilst a couple of cheaper options are the 3-star Quality Panorama Hotel, and the budget Nice Bed & Breakfast.
Another popular area for Gothenburg hotels is the busy street of Avenyn, also in the city centre, which boasts several popular buildings including the Art Museum, the Concert Hall, the City Theatre and a vast range of bars and clubs. Hotels along this road include the opulent, 4-star Radisson SAS Park Avenue Hotel, while a few streets down is the more affordable Hotel Liseberg Heden.
For those planning to do a lot of shopping in Gothenburg, a good area to stay would be Kungsportsplatsen, located to the north west of the city centre. As well as excellent shopping options, there are also many hotels here, including the oldest hotel in Gothenburg, the 3-star Hotel Royal.
If you prefer to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, a good area to stay would be Majorna, about 30 minute’s walk west of the centre. This picturesque area boats old wooden buildings and green courtyards, and is also convenient if you’re arriving into Gothenburg by ferry. One of the best hotels here is the 4-star Novotel, situated by the river.
