Budapest is divided into a number of districts - shown on our interactive map as II Kerulet, IX Kerulet, and so on - all with various benefits as areas to stay. The most central of the districts are II, V, VI and VII. Throughout these areas you'll find fabulous architecture and the best nightlife in Budapest The public transport is efficient and you are never more than a few minutes away from all the major tourist attractions.
District II, in the north west of the city centre, boasts medieval buildings and excellent restaurants. Unlike other parts of the city, traffic levels are fairly low here, and with its views down the river, this would be a good part of town to stay for families and those looking for a quiet stay.
District V, is east of the city centre across the river, and forms a triangle from the River Edge, up to Parliament and down to the magnificent market at the end of Vaci utca. This area is full of impressive buildings and is where you will find most of the 5-star hotels in Budapest.
District VI and VII, are south and south east of the city centre, respectively. These areas are divided by the beautiful, tree-lined Andrassy Boulavard, which runs through the whole of the city centre, down to Hero Square.
