Railay Beach
Dec 11th
As the Phi Phi to Ao Nang ferry drew around a headland of limestone cliffs, the beautiful West Railay beach came into view. Wow wow wow! I am not one to use the word beautiful without good cause but West Railay beach left me with no option… I was amazed.
After Phuket and Phi Phi I expected the ferry to draw alongside a pier to disembark… this is not the case at Railay. Instead several longtail boats approached from the shore to transfer passengers and their luggage to the beach. As the longtails got closer, the scenery unfolded further and became More >
Phi Phi Island, Thailand
Dec 5th
After 5 days on Phi Phi it’s time to leave. It has been good and not as bad as my friend who visited two weeks ago told it would be!!
Stayed in a very cheap hostel up a very steep hill – the Golden Hill Bungalows were booked through HostelBookers and cost only 6 pounds per night to stay in a 4 bed room (2 bunk beds). My room-mates were friendly and good for a beer and the Golden Hill had a good bar. The downside though was the bed – my back almost gave out and I had to eventually upgrade to More >
Ben’s Big Trip Days 1-2: Kuala Lumpur
Nov 29th
On Friday 27th November, sletoH.com founder Ben (that’s me, Hello!) set off on a trip through South East Asia to Australia and back again. I am going to blog about the trip here.
First stop Kuala Lumpur… I was going to make this a one night stay and get out as a few people had told me it was rubbish. However, at the last minute I was promised a delightful time if I found my way to Bukit Bintang and the Batu Caves. I booked a hostel in Bukit Bintang (the Paradiso bed and breakfast) and went out to explore KL More >
sletoh Logo Re-design
Nov 6th
I (Ben Jackson) was at the Affiliates 4U exhibition at Excel London in October 2009. During one of the sessions, sletoh.com was reviewed by an expert panel in front of an audience of approx 150 delegates. The review highlighted a few short-comings on the site which we have since been working to address. The main outstanding issue relates t the site name and the fact that nobody realised that ‘sletoh’ is ‘hotels’ spelt backwards.
In a straw poll of the audience only 1 delegate owned up to liking the name. Most seemed to believe that a keyword based name would be More >
Travellers Cheques in Valencia, Spain
Jul 30th
I have just been to the Benicassim Festival in Spain (which was fantastic by the way) followed by 2 days in Valencia. I bought 900 euros of travellers cheques and some Euros to go with.
When I tried to cash the cheques in the banks of Valencia I was told that they do not accept them. I found this to be amazing – they are American Express which I thought was universal accepted. Apparently not! I was staying at the wonderful Medium Conqueridor hotel double checked with hotel reception… they confirmed that travellers cheques are not accepted in Valencia!!
With useless cheques I was forced to More >

Xcapewithus Go Bust
Apr 30th
When checking why sales were not converting through Xcapewithus this afternoon, I was met with the following announcement on their site:
We regret to inform you that XcapeWithUs.com has ceased trading as of 30 April 2009.
If you have a confirmed booking and we have your email address you will receive an email shortly explaining what steps you can take.
If your arrival date is 30 April 2009 or 1 May 2009 please email: customersupport@xcapewithus.com with full contact details including your reference number.
I was shocked and appalled. Let me explain why… Xcapewithus owes sletoh.com money in commission payments. Worse still, on behalf of diytravel.co.uk I paid More >

Best Free Things to Do in Rome
Sep 13th
Be neighborly: Take a stroll in the neighborhoods near your hotel. Or check out the old Testaccio district. This ‘hood dates back to antiquity and is becoming a popular bar hop spot for a young crowd while many restaurants feature delicious Roman era cooking. Trestevere is also a unique place to walk, as most of the narrow alleyways lead back to the Piazza Santa Maria, one of the city’s oldest places of worship.
Pantheon: One of the most iconic structures in Rome. The Pantheon was renovated by Hadrian in 120AD which is one of the reasons why it is so well More >
