Not surprising that five out of the top 10 hotels are in Italy -- the land where St. Valentine lived. I posted a blog item about his story at http://travel-babel.blogspot.com/2008/02/valentines-day-began-in-ancient-rome.html for Valentine's Day, but the romance certainly lingers in the places you describe. Swoon!!

The 20% fall in tourism numbers you mention refers only to Ireland's North West. The country as a whole is performing very well, with both numbers and spend on the up.
The North West, where the Greenbox ecotourism destination is, suffers from years of neglect due to being in the border region and near conflict, as well as poor transport infrastructure to bring tourists in. Meanwhile, the rest of the country, particularly Dublin City and the South West, were able to build their tourism profile unhindered.
The Greenbox is worthwhile as it combines ecotourism principles with the fundamental notion of building up tourism in a heretofore underdeveloped, yet very attractive, rural tourism destination.

Congratulations on your achievement. The hotel looks good outside and inside - BUT attention to detail is lacking. Today I went for morning coffee and was really disappointed, mainly with the staff who were completely unwelcoming and careless. When three latte coffees were eventually produced, two were overflowing on to the saucers, saturating the nasty paper sugar strips, and one was black, instead of latte. The coffee itself was probably the worst and most tasteless I have ever tasted.
The seating was comfortable buty I found myself looking at a poor negleted pot plant which looks as if it hasn't seen water since the opening in July.
I have heard other poor reports about the menu, but this is hearsay of course, but as you are well aware, word of mouth is invaluable in deciding a restaurant's fate, and I for one will not be going back for a while
For the sake of Dumfries and your reputation please employ some reliable and well trained staff.

Regards

Cool, so you can watch Norwich City games included in the hotel room price - if the room is facing the right way of course.

I wonder if you can specifically book rooms overlooking the ground...? Ceri, is this possible?

Hi

Is this the same hotel as listed below in this article courtesy of the BBC.

Will have to see what else happens with this hotel overlooking a football ground.

Mark

Football fan is banned from hotel

A fan has been banned from a hotel overlooking a football ground after he used a room to watch the remainder of a game he had been ejected from.

The man was ejected from Norwich City's home game against Southampton at Carrow Road stadium on Saturday.

But just minutes later the shirtless Saints fan was seen waving and shouting to his fellow supporters from a room at the new Holiday Inn at Carrow Road.

A spokesman for Holiday Inn said the man had now been banned from the hotel.

Comment on 0870 Numbers and Travel Web Sites by Jacqueline Shalks

Dear Blogger,
We do take on board and in fact welcome client feedback, particularly with respect to the very topical issue of 0870 numbers. Our 0870 number was first introduced when we launched online some 3 years ago. We found that as a Manchester based company, having this number enabled us to attract and work with clients all over the world, which of course is one of the key aims as an online company.

Despite this advantage we have recently become aware that some clients feel the 0870 number is unfair due to the costs incurred by the caller.

At Reserveahotelonline.com our Reservations Team are always more than happy to call clients back if they prefer us to, and in addition to this, on our website we do have an option for clients to email us with a "call me now" message to ensure they do not incur any charges on their phone bill when speaking to our team. Furthermore we have taken a key decision to have a personalised Reservations Team on hand and not a Call Centre so clients are not waiting on hold for more than a few seconds at a time.

Plans are already in place within our organisation to change over from an 0870 number to a more cost effective option for our clients but these matters do take time as they also have further implications on all other elements of our marketing. With this in mind, we ask clients to understand we are continually trying to improve our level of service and are always open to your suggestions of how we can assist you with your bookings in the most effective way possible.

For further feedback, please feel free to contact our team directly on info@reserveahotelonline.com

Many thanks
