Vienna International Airport is Austria's largest and busiest airport. In 2007 it handled close to 19 million domestic and international passengers. It is situated close to the town of Schwechat, some 11 miles southeast of central Vienna. The airport is the main base of Austrian Airlines and its subsidiaries Tyrolean Airways and Lauda Air. The airline Niki also has its main base here. Vienna International Airport is a short distance from M. R. Stefanik Airport in Bratislava, both airports are important hubs for low-cost Airline Sky Europe. There are three terminals at the airport and a forth is currently under construction. When complete, the new terminal, SKYLINK, will allow the airport to handle larger aircraft like the Airbus A380, and higher passenger numbers. Vienna is a popular tourist destination famed for its rich cultural heritage and grand architecture.
