Munich Airport Guide

Name: Munich Airport
IATA code: MUC
Address: Munich Airport, Flughafen Munchen 2, 85356, Munchen, Germany.

Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport, commonly known as Munich Airport, is Germany's second busiest passenger airport. It is the largest in southern Germany and is the country's most important international air hub after Frankfurt Airport. The airport is situated 17 miles northeast of Munich city centre, near the city of Freising, Bavaria. It served just under 34 million passengers in 2007, making it the 7th busiest airport in Europe and 28th busiest airport in the world that year. The current Munich Airport opened in 1992, its predecessor, Munich-Reim ceased operations the same year. Munich Airport is an important hub for Air Berlin, Condor Airlines and Lufthansa. These airlines, along with low-cost and charter airline TUlfly, provide the majority of passenger services at the airport. They offer flights from Munich to destinations throughout Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Munich is a modern airport, and as such, provides many of the facilities and amenities expected of an international travel hub. One of the features here is the Munich Airport Centre (MAC), a business, recreation and shopping area connecting the airports two terminals.
