Isle of Man Airport is the main airport serving the Island in the Irish Sea. The airport is situated 7 miles southwest of the islands capital, Douglas, at the southern end of the island, near the town of Ballasalla. The airport is also known as Ronaldsway Airport after the area in which it is located. Isle of Man Airport has gone through a gradual redevelopment process over the last ten years and current work is expected to finish by the end of 2009. Though the Isle of Man is not officially part of the United Kingdom, passenger numbers of just over 750,000 saw the airport listed as the 26th busiest airport in the UK for 2007. The airport currently provides air services between the Isle of Man and destinations in the UK, Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland.
