It is located near the village of Eglinton 7 miles northeast of Derry in County Londonderry. It is one of the three airports offering commercial flights in Northern Ireland, the others being Belfast International Airport and George Best Belfast City Airport. Due to its close proximity to the border with the Republic of Ireland, City of Derry Airport is an important transport hub for passengers travelling to and from the Irish Republic.
