Budapest Ferihegy International Airport is Hungary's biggest international air hub. It offers connections to numerous destinations throughout Europe as well as several intercontinental destinations in North America, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East. The airport is situated in Pestszentlorinc, the 18th district of Budapest, 10 miles east-southeast of the city centre. It handled 8.6 million passengers during 2007, which made it the 46th busiest airport in Europe that year. It is the main base of the Hungarian flag carrier, Malev Hungarian Airways. The airline offers scheduled and charter flights from Budapest Ferihegy International Airport to about 50 destinations in 34 countries worldwide. There are 3 terminals at the airport, the oldest of which, Terminal 1, is a renowned example of architectural modernism.
